Cellular/Mobile Voice Market Share (March, 2013)


The National Communications Authority has released the market statistics mobile subscribers for March 2013.

In the period under review the total number of mobile subscriptions was recorded as 26,464,964 from 26,324,702 posted in the previous month, representing an increase of 0.5 percent during the period and 1.3 percent when compared to the same period of the previous year.

NCA Authorizes New Radio Stations


NCA has announced the authorization to three new community and nine commercial radio stations.
Community broadcasting is non-profit service and is owned and managed by particular communities. The principal  aim is to serve and benefit the particular communities. It is, in effect, a form of public-service broadcasting, but serves specific communities rather than the entire nation.

Cellular/Mobile Voice Market Share (February, 2013)

February figures for mobile voice telephone subscribers in Ghana have shown a growth rate of 1.1o%. January figures recorded 26,037,525 while the subscriber base for February stood at 26,324,702.

MTN comfortably maintained its position as the dominant mobile operator. Its subscriber base of the 26,324,702 was 11,941,887.

Notice To The General Public On Fibre Cuts And Its Effect On Communication Services


The National Communications Authority (NCA) recounts with grave concern, recent fibre cuts across the country, particularly along the Accra-Kumasi and Tarkwa-Dunkwa roads, which have adversely affected the operations of telecommunications services in the country.

Fibre optic cables are needed to facilitate enhanced access to broadband services for all persons living in Ghana.  However these are being cut regularly, sometimes on a daily basis, resulting in disruption of vital communications services to schools, hospitals, disaster areas, and the general public.

NCA Response - Interferance with NET2 TV signals


The attention of the National Communications Authority (NCA) has been drawn to some media allegations that the Authority is interfering with the radio signals of NET2 TV.

This allegation is as unfounded as it is unfortunate.  To interfere with radio signals would require use of a transmitter. The NCA does not have a transmitter and therefore cannot cause interference to any radio signal.
