In recognition of the accelerating pace of access line penetration, along with the expansion of the service portfolio offerings by telephony services providers, the National Communications Authority(NCA), following stakeholder consultations and inputs from the industry, has requested GT-Vodafone to migrate all existing fixed telephone users to a new numbering plan to complete implementation of the National Numbering Plan. The above exercise does not affect mobile numbers in Ghana.

GT-Vodafone Fixed Line Network

All current GT-Vodafone Fixed Line users will have new numbers with the under listed characteristics:

*The current 53 area codes will be reduced to 10 regional codes.

*The length of all regional codes will be the same as shown in Table 1

*All user numbers will have the same digit length by the addition of a digit prefixed to user numbers in Accra and Tema and two digits prefixed to all other users in the country.

The Authority announces for the information of the General Public, that details of the Migration Plan for the GT-Vodafone Fixed Network(fixed line numbers) will be communicated to the general public by GT-Vodafone shortly.

Please note that the Zain Fixed Line Network has been operating with the New Numbering Plan as shown below:

The NCA assures the general public and industry stakeholders that factors including customer convenience, market order and stability, ease of implementation, consideration of legacy systems and efficient use of numbers have been taken into account in designing the criteria of this migration process.
