KNUST ICT Students at NCA on Study Visit

The students from the Information Communications Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, had the opportunity to visit the National Communications Authority (NCA) offices at the NCA Tower on Friday, 22nd February, 2017.
During this study visit, they learnt about the activities and functions of the Authority on and how these activities impact their lives as students and consumers. Welcoming the students on behalf of the Authority, Mrs. Afua A. Mensah Amosah, a Principal Manager with the Consumer and Corporate Affairs Division (CCAD), spoke on the importance of such visits to both the students. She said, such visits enables the Authority receive feedback from another group of consumers, the youth.
Ms. Rahinatu Ali, a staff with the Corporate Affairs Unit, in a presentation took the students through the history of the communications industry, telecom reforms, the establishment of the Authority, the objectives and functions of the Authority, as well as operational activities such as Spectrum Management, Quality of Service Monitoring, Digital Terrestrial Migration and Consumer Protection. At the end of the presentation the students were taken through an industry mental test to assess their understanding of the presentation. Students who were able to answer the questions correctly were presented with branded NCA memorabilia such as mugs, towels and books.
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is a public university established in Kumasi, Ashanti, Ghana. It is also the largest university in Kumasi Metropolis and Ashanti Region.
