List of Authorised TV Broadcasting Stations as at Fourth Quarter of 2018

 

As at the Fourth Quarter of 2018, the total number of TV operators authorised by the National Communications Authority (NCA) to operate in Ghana is 136. Out of the 136 TV stations,

  • 3          Analogue Terrestrial Television
  • 35       Digital Terrestrial Free-To-Air Television Programme Channel (Nationwide Coverage)
  • 5          Digital Terrestrial Free-To-Air Television Programme Channel (Regional    Coverage)
  • 1          Digital Terrestrial Pay Television (Service only)
  • 5          Digital Terrestrial Pay Television (Service and Frequency)
  • 8          Digital Terrestrial Radio Service on TV Multiplex
  • 8          Satellite Television Broadcasting (Pay TV Direct-To-Home Bouquet)
  • 11       Satellite Television Broadcasting (Free-To-Air Direct-To-Home Bouquet)
  • 59       Satellite Television Broadcasting (Free-To-Air Direct-To-Home Single Channel)
  • 1          Digital Cable Television

 

A total of 88 stations are on air as at the end of December, 2018.

 

Analogue Terrestrial Television Stations are TV stations that is transmitted as analogue waveforms and received using common aerials on a TV set. These stations are being migrated from analogue to digital to comply with the Geneva 2006 Agreement of the International Telecommunications Union.
